Be Part of the History — Since 1947
Toot's Bar — Hollywood, Maryland's storied neighborhood institution, pouring cold drinks and hosting good times for over 75 years.
Our Story
Seven Decades of Southern Maryland Tradition
Toot's Bar opened its doors in 1947 in Hollywood, Maryland, planted squarely in the heart of St. Mary's County. From its earliest days it served as the area's gathering place — a cold beer and a warm welcome waiting for watermen, farmers, and families coming off a long week. The bar has weathered decades of change while holding fast to what makes a neighborhood bar worth returning to: honest drinks, familiar faces, and a room that feels like home the moment you walk in.
Through different owners and eras, Toot's has kept its identity intact — the worn bar top, the jukebox that knows its crowd, and the regulars who have claimed the same stool for thirty years. It has marked the milestones of Southern Maryland life: birthdays, victories, retirements, and reunions held in the same room where they were first celebrated a generation before. The name Toot's is shorthand in Hollywood, MD for exactly one thing — the place everyone knows, and everyone belongs.

Toot’s Bar is preparing for a new chapter as Greg Reynolds andTimothy Quade take over as owners this December, bringing a community-focusedvision that embraces the bar’s place in local culture while creating a fresh, welcoming environment for everyone.
Reynolds, who operates Home Services Restoration LLC in Great Mills, and Quade, president of the Hollywood Optimist Club, have both been active in St. Mary’s County for years through volunteer work, charitable support and community partnerships. Their shared commitment to service first brought them together, eventually forming a friendship that led to the pursuit of ownership at Toot’s Bar.
The new owners say they want to build something inclusive and inviting—where people can create new memories while honoring what Toot’s has meant to many in St. Mary’sCounty. Planned interior updates include new flooring, improved lighting and general comfort enhancements, all without losing the character that has made Toot’s recognizable to generations of locals.
Looking ahead, the outdoor entertainment area will be a priority. Beginning next spring, the owners plan to expand the space to better host live music, community gatherings and fundraising events. They’ll also be exploring a variety of bands and music genres to welcome new audiences and help more people experience what makesToot’s unique.
One historic feature that will remain untouched is the memorial wall along the back fence, which honors members of the community who have been part of Toot’s story. The owners said preserving that tribute is essential as they work to build new connections and create new traditions. Food service is expected to be added in the future as part of their long-term vision for the bar.
